Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has told Brazilian playmaker Geovanni he has to prove he is worthy of a first-team spot at Eastlands.Geovanni impressed on Saturday despite City slumping to a 3-1 defeat against Birmingham, and fans are keen to see more of the former Benfica player.

However, Eriksson told the club's official website: "Everything is subjective in football - never objective.

"He has a possibility to show me he should play from the beginning every day out there on the training pitch. So if he hasn't started many games it's because he hasn't convinced me that's the case."
