Westlake's Seagulls deal extended

Thu 03 Apr, 05:15 PM

Brighton have reached a deal with play-off rivals Leeds to extend the loan spell of midfielder Ian Westlake until the end of the season. The 24-year-old's initial one-month spell expired after Saturday's home game against Port Vale, but he has been given the green light to stay on the south coast for the rest of the campaign - including the play-offs if required.

"I'm delighted we have been able to agree to extend the deal," said Seagulls boss Dean Wilkins.

"Ian has shown he brings balance to the side, for the obvious reason of being left-footed, but he also brings an enthusiasm and a personality which fills in well with the club."

Westlake returns to the Brighton squad to face Vale after being ineligible to face Leeds at Elland Road last week.
