Leeds manager Gary McAllister has signed a new 12-month rolling contract at Elland Road.

The former Liverpool midfielder returned to Leeds as manager in January following the departure of Dennis Wise to Newcastle.

McAllister initially signed a short-term deal until the end of the season and in his 11 games in charge the Scot has guided League One hopefuls Leeds to four wins, five draws and two defeats.

He was delighted to be rewarded with a new deal and is now hoping to enjoy success at the Yorkshire club.

He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted and very honoured. I was initially offered the job until the end of the season and it took me all of two seconds to agree then, and it's similar now.

"The players now know where they stand as far as I'm concerned and we can all look forward to the future together. I was very eager to stay and I want to bring success to the club."

Chairman Ken Bates added: "We've been impressed with what Gary has done and we decided it was fair to offer him a rolling contract to enable us to plan the future of Leeds United with confidence and security."
