Anderlecht have taken sole possession of second place in the Jupiler League after beating third-placed Club Brugge 2-0 on Saturday.Brugge had moved level on points last weekend but proved no match for their hosts this weekend as first-half goals from Stanislav Vlcek and Jelle Van Damme secured the victory for Anderlecht.
Standard Liege continued to demonstrate why they have won the title this year with a 3-0 demolition of lowly Dender as Deiudonne Mbokani (2) and Milan Jovanovic got the goals.
Germinal Beerschot will have a chance to leapfrog Cercle Brugge for fourth place on the final day of the season next week after beating Mechelen in a 4-3 thriller.
Germinal led 2-0 through first-half goals from Tosin Dosunmu and Gyam King, but saw that lead wiped out early in the second period as Bjorn Vleminckx and Antun Dunkovic struck back. Sanharib Malki then had a brace to put Germinal back in control before Vleminckx got a late consolation for the visitors.
Cercle Brugge were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man FC Brussels, leaving them two points ahead of Germinal.
Gent took control of sixth place with a 2-1 victory over Charleroi. The two clubs began the game level on points but Gent won on Randall Azofeifa's strike after Charleroi's Joseph Akpala cancelled out Dominic Foley's opener. Gent had Roberto Rosales sent off five minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Roeselare beat Excelsior Mouscron 2-1, Lokeren won 2-1 on the road at Westerlo, while St Truiden and Mons shared the spoils from a 1-1 draw.
