Darlo spoil Posh's celebrations

Sat 03 May, 08:15 PM

Jason Kennedy's strike set Darlington on their way to their play-off semi-final clash with Rochdale following a 2-0 win over Peterborough.Following the midfielder's effort, promoted Posh had the better of the chances, but they were repeatedly denied by substitute goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak.

Michael Cummins then slotted home shortly after the break to ensure the Quakers took the three points, which sees them finish in sixth place.

Aaron Mclean and Adam Newton attempted to hit back with quick-fire efforts for Posh, but Darlington keeper David Stockdale was on hand to deny them both.

Mackail-Smith was then denied by Kazimierczak again before firing over the bar, leaving the Posh without a final-day win to top off their automatic promotion.
