Mark Hudson is confident Crystal Palace will cap a remarkable turnaround to their season by reaching the Championship play-offs.The Eagles were second from bottom and staring at a likely relegation scrap shortly after Neil Warnock took over back in October.
But the former Sheffield United boss has masterminded an amazing change in fortunes for Palace, who are now sixth and just one win away from securing a shot at Wembley and possible promotion to the Premier League.
The south Londoners will kick off at home to Burnley on Sunday knowing victory will guarantee a top-six finish and a chance to emulate Iain Dowie's 2004 side, who went from bottom of the Championship to play-off final victory in little over five months.
And skipper Hudson knows Palace are in pole position to head off the challenge of Wolves, Ipswich and the Blades in what promises to be a dramatic climax to the season.
"We are more than pleased with how the second half of the season has gone, and we would definitely have taken this at the beginning of the season," said the former Fulham centre-half.
"It's right in our hands now and we have got to get a result."
Hudson is not expecting any favours from Burnley despite the visitors having little to play for.
The Championship has been the most competitive division in the country this season, with anyone capable of beating anyone on their day, and Hudson will not be taking anything for granted against the Clarets.
"Burnley are in the top half and will be looking to get as many points as they can. It's not going to be an easy game - we know that - but we will be giving it a good go," Hudson added.
"Burnley aren't going to do us any favours. They have been tough opponents all year and they are not just going to turn up and roll over.
"But there is no fear among the players - we are all looking forward to it."
