Midfielder Kevin Thornton is expected to return as Coventry look to secure their Championship status against Charlton at The Valley on Sunday.The diminutive playmaker missed the home draw against Midlands rivals Wolves with an ankle injury but should be fit for the Sky Blues' final game of the season.
City have postponed operations for Elliott Ward and Michael Doyle to enable the duo to play in the crucial clash.
The players were scheduled to undergo surgery on respective ankle and hernia problems this week, thinking that the club's survival would already be assured.
However, Southampton's surprise draw at West Brom means Coventry still need a point to be certain of safety.
Defender David McNamee is back in full training after being sidelined since September with a hamstring injury but the game will come too soon for the Scot.
