Alvaro Bautista took his second 250cc pole position of the season by a confident 0.435secs at Shanghai on Saturday.

Fellow Spaniard Hector Barbera will start second on the grid, with championship leader Mika Kallio slipping to third after a fall in the closing seconds of the session.

Julian Simon completes a front row split equally between Aprilia and KTM, with Marco Simoncelli heading row two for Gilera. Second in the championship Mattia Pasini will start from seventh.
