Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola hailed Saturday's victory over Real Madrid as one of the happiest days of his life after his side thrashed their arch rivals 6-2 at the Bernabeu.

Barca are now seven points clear of Real with four matches left to play, and seem all but guaranteed to win the league.

"We have taken a giant step towards the title and are so close now," said the jubilant Barcelona coach.

"We didn't want to hide here and tried to be brave like we have been all season and go for the win.

"It is not easy to win at the Bernabeu and this is one of the happiest days of my footballing life as we have made a lot of people happy."

Barca now go into Wednesday's Champions League semi-final second leg match at Chelsea - with the first leg finishing 0-0 - in high spirits.

"This win gives us a lot of confidence for the Chelsea game," explained Guardiola. "Rome (where the final will be played) is so close. We don't feel tired and just have to brave and go for it."

Real coach Juande Ramos admitted Barcelona were worthy winners and were on a pedestal.

"I think Barcelona are a cut above and today showed that they were superior," said Ramos. "The big European sides have been better than us and there is nothing else to say. You have to recognise that, although it hurts a lot."

  3. Dear Barca Fans,

I have written a poem for you. Here it goes:)

Barca fans you are my man
    Everything you say I ban
Cos you are not from my clan
Your Barca is built on sand
Are you sure Barca can ?

Last nite, a gypsy from Barcelona gazed into her crystal ball and saw a fearful vision.
    I asked What Happened ?

Under a bridge a ball was passed to guy called Malouda
It went from there to the legs of Anelka
From there it went to Drogba
Who shot it between the legs of Guardiola
    Into the goal of Barcelona.

I asked the gypsy: And what did you see happened at the other end?

"A ball reaches the legs of Xavi
And quickly it went to Henry
    He passed it to Messi
Who crashed into a bus called Terry
And that was the end of the story"

    Cheers,

May the best team wins !

    Yours Truly,

  7. As a Barca fan of course I'm happy for the Barca win, but I'm also proud of Guardiola for showing a lot of respect for Real Madrid in his post-game comments. They have had a very strong season. Guardiola often emphasizes the need for humility, and I think that's important for a team, and for fans too!
