Jamal Campbell-Ryce's winner guaranteed Barnsley's Championship survival as they did everything they needed to do by beating Plymouth 2-1 at Home Park.
Simon Davey's visitors travelled knowing that a point against the Pilgrims would guarantee their survival and condemn Norwich to League One football next term.
And the nerve-jangling afternoon did not start according to plan when on-loan Blackburn striker Paul Gallagher crossed for defender Gary Sawyer to head home his third of the season from close range.
Plymouth were inches away from doubling their lead as Alan Judge's effort came back off the bar, but news of Norwich's demise down at Charlton soon soothed visiting fans' nerves.
Palpitations soon turned to jubilation for the Barnsley supporters when Adam Hammill drove home a thunderous strike to ensure the game was level at the interval and destiny was once again in the visitors' hands.
And, two minutes into the second period, Davey's men took the lead through Campbell-Ryce, with the Tykes clinging on to ensure a memorable survival at the expense of Norwich.

Too close for comfort Argyle, you must be aware that home form just not good enough, lets hope this is put right for next season, very lucky to have another chance, take it and Good luck.

hope PATRICK CRYNE sees some sense
super tykes well done bye bye budgies!
Congratulations Barnsley best of luck for next season I live in Norfolk but the better team stayed up
Barnsley should not be fighting for survival at the end of every season, but while ever Davey is in charge support will dwindle. The man is a joke.
