Dutch club Helmond Sport have insisted they will not co-operate in Jan Poortvliet's move to Championship club Southampton. The Saints unveiled the Dutchman as their new head coach last week but it has since emerged he has only signed a pre-contract agreement and is still contracted to Helmond.
Managing director Mario Captein told Voetbalprimeur: "I was surprised on Friday when an English journalist phoned me with the news about Poortvliet and Southampton.
"I clearly told everyone the week before that Helmond Sport would not co-operate in any transfer of our coach.
"We were not and are not interested in a transfer fee. I told Jan he has a contract and we keep him to that contract.
"According to me, Jan now has two contracts. That is his problem.
"I have nothing to solve. If he wants to get rid of the contract with us, he must come into action."
