Mitchell handed a new contract

MK Dons have handed injured midfielder Paul Mitchell a new six-month contract to stay at stadium:mk.The 26-year-old former Wigan man suffered a severe double leg-break at Notts County in February 2007 and has spent the last 16 months battling back to fitness.

He played his first 25 minutes of football in over a year in a reserve game against Norwich last month and is currently continuing his recovery at the FA's rehabilitation centre in Lilleshall.

Having first joined the Dons on loan from Wigan in December 2004 before securing a permanent deal the following summer, Mitchell has made 67 appearances for MK and captained the side through the 2005/06 season.
