Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond admits the uncertainty surrounding the takeover saga at the club is making his pre-season preparations difficult. The Cherries were plunged into administration in February 2008 and, with no resolution in sight, Bond has been frustrated in negotiations with out-of-contract players or potential new signings so far this summer.
"It is difficult because nobody can tell us what we've got available in terms of budgets. We don't know what our squad is going to cost because nothing has been agreed with a number of players," he told the Bournemouth Echo.
"We've made offers to the players and are trying to encourage them to commit themselves to the club. We are also trying to identify potential people who could fill the one or two gaps outside of that.
"It's not as straight forward as it usually is and, because the takeover hasn't gone through yet, the people above are not really able to give anybody a definitive answer as to what we're allowed to do.
"I'm speaking to people to see how interested they would be in signing because, whoever I bring in, needs to be committed to what is undoubtedly going to be a difficult season."
