Toon boss takes Aim at Pablo deal

Tue 03 Jun, 08:45 PM

Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan aims to snap up Pablo Aimar in a £6.5million summer deal after seeing Real Zaragoza drop out of the Primera Liga.Zaragoza have slapped the talented Argentinian playmaker on the transfer list following their relegation from Spain's top flight.

And The Mirror claims that Keegan has targeted the 28-year-old as the man to fill the creative void left by Emre's imminent departure to join Fenerbahce.

He may face competition for his signature, though, as Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was linked with a £10million move for Aimar in January's transfer window, and could reignite his interest this summer.

Zaragoza, who signed Aimar for 12million Euros in 2006, cannot afford the player's wages outside La Liga so are prepared to make a loss on him.

  3. Newcastle would suit him .. and we need a good midfielder. Get rid of the dead wood (on fat wages) in Duff, Smith and Viduka . Replace them with some young quality and watch us smash in to the top 4 !!!
