Controversial cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones has been granted permission by the NFL to join his Dallas Cowboys team mates for training camps and pre-season games.
A decision on whether Jones would be reinstated for the 2008 season will be made by September 1, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said.
Jones's "continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner", Goodell added.
The 24-year-old is expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the league and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement, Goodell said.
Acquired by the Cowboys in April in a trade with the Tennessee Titans, Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season for engaging in off-the-field conduct detrimental to the league.
He has been arrested six times since he entered the NFL in 2005 and was implicated in a triple shooting at a Las Vegas strip club during the 2007 NBA All-Star weekend.
Jones, Tennessee's best defender in 2005 and 2006, was charged in June last year with two counts of felony coercion and in December he pleaded no contest in Las Vegas to conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct.
He was the first defensive player drafted in 2005 as the sixth pick overall out of West Virginia.
