Chile and Argentina will co-host the Dakar Rally in 2010 for the second year running.
After 29 years in Africa the 2009 Dakar was the first to take place in South America and the success of January's edition sees the race return to the continent.
That was decided some time ago, with organisers now confirming that the two countries to host will again be Argentina and Chile.
The 32nd renewal will again start and finish in Buenos Aires but unlike this year will feature five stages in the Acatama desert in Chile.
The 2010 Dakar will run from January 2 to January 16 and cover 5000km of special stages, 1000km less than in 2009.

thatsgreat thinking rob i vote for the 10,000 km
Why are they making it shorter? I would have anticpated this to be pushed to over 7000 this year with the intention to get it to hit the magical 10,000 and make it not just a race but an endurance race of all endurance races, They could easily get in other south american countries
