Brentford manager Andy Scott is scouring the transfer market for an experienced centre-back and has insisted he will not panic buy.Scott allowed Matt Heywood to join Grimsby last week and now has only young duo Karleigh Osborne and Leigh Mills at his disposal who can play in the centre of defence.
The Bees boss is now keen to lure a defender to the club before the start of the new season.
"You cannot put players of Karleigh and Leigh's age together at centre-back for a whole season and expect to be unscathed," Scott told the Hounslow Chronicle.
"I'm looking for somebody who knows what they're doing and has played a fair amount of games to give them some competition and guidance.
"The trouble is, every other team is looking for that type of player too. What I won't do is panic and go out and buy somebody completely unsuitable."
