Aaron Downes has not made Australia's revised Under-23 squad for the Olympic Games so will now return to Chesterfield for pre-season training.Downes, 23, has been with his nation at a specially-arranged pre-Olympic training camp ahead of the event in Beijing.

However, he has missed out following the final cut and will now not travel to the Far East, making him available to compete for the Spireites when they get their season underway against Barnet on August 9.

Boss Lee Richardson told the club's official website: "We can understand Aaron's disappointment at not being selected for the Olympics but from the club's point of view there is a positive as Aaron will be here for the start of the season after all."
