Gills complete McCammon swoop

Thu 03 Jul, 06:00 PM

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has made his second signing of the summer with the capture of former Doncaster striker Mark McCammon. The 29-year-old has been Stimson's main transfer target throughout the summer and has now penned a three-year deal at Priestfield.

McCammon started his career at Cambridge and has also played for Charlton, Brentford, Millwall and Brighton, as well as having loan spells at Swindon and Bristol City.

Meanwhile, fellow striker Delroy Facey is in talks with another League Two club as his Gills career looks to be coming to an end.

Stimson told KentOnline: "We're waiting to hear now. It's possible that he will leave and there are one or two clubs interested. If he leaves then that will release some more money. I would be surprised if he is here at the start of the season but I've said to him that we're professional and if he's better than the players we have here then he can play.

"Delroy is a great lad and his attitude is good but I expect more from him than what he sets himself. He is physically strong but I expect more from him. He's not from Gillingham and he has a child up north and you have to be happy when you close the front door in the morning."
