The Glazer family are resigned to losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
Madrid-based newspaper AS reports that the American owners of Manchester United are currently working on the assumption that the Portuguese winger will move to Real.
The paper claims that - after several conversations with United chief executive David Gill - the Glazers realise that Ronaldo's departure is inevitable, and will have to begin negotiations with Real over what is sure to be a world record transfer.
Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly told United that his client wants to make the move, and although definite negotiations have not yet started, a transfer is seen as an inevitability.
AS claims that a bid of around 70-75 million Euros (just under £60million) will be enough to persuade United to sell their prize asset.
Ronaldo is currently on holiday following Euro 2008, and is set to undergo surgery on an ankle injury in the next few days.

If Ronaldo wants to go then go he must as he will create ill eeling in the dressing room. United should make Real pay £100 million if they want him so much. Although I will be gutted if he goes Fergie is the master at getting quality players to replace so called "Icons" Cantona, Hughes, Beckham, Keane ....I could go on!BigGaz Rochdale.
Real Madrid are no longer the club they once were. Long gone are the days were players could rightiously say it's the best club in the world. I think it'd be a step down for Ronaldo in terms of club and league but if he has his heart set on it then at least we should be getting in the region of 60+ million. At least then Utd would have the cash to buy Berbatov and maybe another winger to replace Ronaldo, Schweinsteiger?
lets face it real madrid are bigger than man utd let him go to a bigger club
I was shocked when this story first broke but have come to realise that letting Ronaldo go is good business for UNITED and makes sense. Why have one player who is so influential and is your main route to goal when the kind of money he will fetch will buy three top class players?
All that remains is for the Glazers to secure the right deal! If Real want him so much then let them break the transfer record and pay £75-100 million, which with the shirt rights deal they will get and compensation to UNITED for developing a raw talent into a top player is what he is worth.
If they are the biggest club in the world then they will not have a problem with opening their wallet and will not seek terms but fork out the cash in one go!
Then the rest of Europe had better beware cos UNITED will be on the prowl for the best and Fergie will do what it takes!
WTF is all this about united unsettling other players. I have never seen another football club go to the same lows as I have seen in Real. The greatest football club on Earth? What a load of @#$%. They have won 5 UCL in the 50's when there was no real opposition, and this is the present. All you Madrid fans should quit living in the past, and start looking at the future. And quite frankly... with Robinho ready to go the future doesn't look to bright for Real.
if it is the club he supported as a boy then fine let him go for as much as you can get out of Real with a buy back clause in the contract, give the money to Fergie and him buy two or threee great players that french guy (the youngester would be a great buy) and get Messi if he can be prized away, i think Real arent as great as a few years ago and at the moment it is a step down, one man doesnt make a team
Why the hell would ronaldo want to go to Real, they are not the biggest club UNITED are, and dont forget who the european champions are, he said he wants to win more champions league medals, well if that's the case stay put and he will, move to Madrid and you will be a nobody inside a year. UNITED FOREVER
This just goes to show that Ronaldo is bigger than the MUFC, first they said that he would have to rot on the bench now they're crumbling down to their knee's to a bigger club, Real Madrid. Well, MUFC did the same to a number of clubs like Fulham for Loius Saha and even to Tottenham Hotspurs for Michael Carrick, I guess what goes around comes around.
If Ron want to move on fine....but he'll make the worst decision in his life cuz MAN UTD is simply the best. If Ron move MAN UTD shouldnt take the 60-80 million pound but they should except a cash n player deal...which include sergio ramos, wesley sneider n robinho
Just ronaldo... people will know you as the traitor because if ManUtd don't buy you... you just nothing compare than now...
ronaldo should go to arsenal n warm the bench behind walcott!
Ronaldo who? He's nothing if he left man u for real. Real Madrid suck, Chelsea suck, Arsenal suck!
Sell him take the money and go for Messi in the 2 semi-finals Messi was the far better player.
fergie doing what o neil is doing with barry liverpool fc
stuff ronaldo. take the money buy another genius. ronaldinho, messi, kaka, bramble.
What a load of @#$%. The Glazers and Fergy are resigned to the fact that Ronaldo is going and all they are doing now is bumping up the price. I don't see Ronaldo at MU next season
the trouble with united is they think no player should want to leave. what they dont realize is, that there are bigger and and more fashionable clubs with more pulling power than them so wake up united. and ferguson where does he get of get.he whinges about clubs unsettling ronaldo. he is the the worst for doing it carrick for one he was happy at spurs till he started,
In tomorrow's news... "Glazers deny everything written in this article. Ronaldo still has no official comment."
Hmmm this is quite different from their official quotes of letting Ronaldo 'rot on the bench'. The Spanish press talk even more s*** than their english counterparts.
Ronaldo will be a Manu player next season - whether he goes at the end of next season 'who knows?'
boooooooollocks
