Atlantic Sport went some way to justifying his lofty reputation as he burst through late in the day to take the Mountgrange Stud Conditions Stakes as the even-money favourite at Newbury.
After winning his maiden in style at Ascot, the half-brother to leading miler Zafeen disappointed in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and has taken a while to come to the boil this summer.
Despite making a belated start to the campaign, Mick Channon's colt was plenty forward and, after being held in a pocket, charged forward to score by half a length.
Channon said: "We fancied him for the Guineas and have always thought a lot of him but have had to wait as he had a few niggly problems.
"He is in all of the big races and has a lot of options so we will just wait and see."
