Eurosport - Thu, 03 Jul 12:31:00 2008

Nottingham Forest are looking to steel themselves for life back in football's second tier, and first on the list are some strikers.

2007-2008 Sunderland Andy Cole - 0

Right now, as you're reading this (possibly), Andy Cole is in talks with Forest to join them on a 12-month deal after being released from Sunderland.

Another striker slated to arrive at the City Ground is Bolton's Heidar Helguson, who has been told he can sling his hook as soon as someone coughs up £1.5 milllion for him.

The Icelandic striker will have his pick of Forest, Charlton Athletic, Sheffield United and Coventry City.

Cov are also mulling over the prospect of signing Clinton Morrison, who is a free agent.

Another Ireland international floating around between-club-purgatory is Ian Harte. Just two years ago he was plying his trade in southern Spain for Levante, but now he has been released from Sunderland after just three starts. Watford are thought to be favourites to sign the left-back.

Meanwhile, in terms of actual news, Norwich City have signed 'Ginger Pele' Gary Doherty on a new two-year deal.
