BMW's hopes for new diffuser

BMW Sauber head to their home grand prix at the Nurburgring next week determined to try and close the gap to the front runners in what is proving to be a trying season for the Hinwil-based outfit.

With just three points finishes in the first eight races, the team hope that its latest double-decker diffuser design will help turn around their fortunes, something of which team principal Mario Theissen seems relatively confident.

"Going into the German Grand Prix, we cannot be happy with the season so far," said Theissen. "After three successful years, this recent period has been the first setback for our team - and it is one we will overcome.

"After all, this is the same team in Munich and Hinwil that has delivered continuous improvements since the team was founded."

"We are all absolutely determined to start moving forwards again and I expect us to experience an upturn in form.

"It is certainly not easy to make up lost ground without the chance to do any testing, but that is what we're aiming to do."

Head of Engineering Willy Rampf is keen to put the team's latest disappointment behind them and put on a good show for the German fans. The German however remains more cautious.

"We will be bringing a modified version of our double-decker diffuser to the Nurburgring, and we have also made improvements on the mechanical side," he said.

"Much will doubtless depend on how successful we are at getting the tyres to work."

BMW have only eight points so far in 2009.

    i must admit after reading some of these posts Touron­ does have a point.
    Why did glok slow down so much in­ the last lap..
    Why was glok driving on the wet side of­ the track in the last few remaining bends allowing­ hamilton to take the inside DRY line to victory.­
    HHHmmmmmm.....seems a little suspicious to me...Can­ anyone enlighten me as to why Glok lost so much time on­ the Last Lap it was if he was abducted by the ALIENS­

  20. A question often asked of me is why don't I write­­ some new posts and not just post the same old Potter,­­ Bernard, Marion and Marnio posts? Its a good question­­ and I suppose the answer is that I am a sad old woman­­ who has nothing better to do and not only that but­ these posts take me­ days and days to write simply­ because I am so stupid. After all that when I post­ them­ then you lot unkindly thumb them all down so I­ have to keep re-posting­ them, its all I have left in­ life.

    I wish I could contribute something positive but­ I cant the only interest I have in F1 is hate for­ anyone of black skin. I use Potter, Bernard, Marnio­ etc to express my racism.
