Bundesliga - Ribery: Real Madrid or nothing

Eurosport - Fri, 03 Jul 07:25:00 2009

Franck Ribery has confirmed he wants to leave Bayern Munich - but only to join Real Madrid.

FOOTBALL Franck Ribery Bayern Munich 2009 - 0

Ribery's compatriot Karim Benzema has already agreed to join the Spanish giants from Lyon and become Real's third major signing after Brazil's Kaka and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I have made up my mind, I want to leave," Ribery told L'Equipe. "It will be Real (Madrid) or nothing."

Bayern officials have repeatedly said the 26-year-old Ribery, who joined them in 2007 from Marseille, was not for sale.

  2. Oh and by the way, you know how they paid off the debt the last time Perez’s was president and the had 250million of debt? By selling off the club’s training ground for £298m to the city council. Good job mate, sound business model. cause you know, anytime you want more funds just sell the training ground again - oh no wait, we dont have one, damn, out debt is rising again - for the last few year and now stands at 500million euros.
Good thing is though, this time, he managed to secure a credit line with Catalan bank, La Caixa. Against the backdrop of mounting bad loans for Spanish banks and limited access to credit for businesses, one has to marvel that Real Madrid has sponsors lining up to facilitate their transfer orgy in th shape of banks with liquidity problems who cant give out mortgages, yet can dish out money to perez the diddy cause he knows theyre not really allowed to ask for it back.

maybe he'll build another training ground and sell that one....

  3. The simple matter for you mate is to stop living in the past and start looking at what is happening just now. Im not making this up, this is all true (i even 'promise' - look it up for yourself) The Spanish savings bank Caja Madrid admitted that it has agreed to give Real Madrid a €76m (£64m) loan to be secured on two unnamed sources of collateral. Madrid are also understood to have a similar deal in place with Banco Santander. Real have spent in excess of €160m to bring Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United and Kaka from Milan. Ok? FACT. good. Caja Madrid's board of directors approved the loan on Monday. A source at the bank, which is the fourth-biggest in Spain, added that a similar deal had been approved by Santander, the bank that extended a credit line to the previous president, Ramón Calderón, as he tried to sign Ronaldo last summer. Santander itself has not commented.
and heres the good bit mate - Despite the announcement, however, Real are seeking to prevent the fees they are forced to pay from spiralling out of control and Caja Madrid refused to reveal what the money would be used for. this is because they have pressure put on them not to disclose the details of what madrid owe them and also to not push to get the money back. See, the old dude in charge Calderón insisted that he had left the club with €91m in its coffers. Added to the two loans, that would give Madrid a total of €243m and Florentino Pérez, the new president at Real, is also believed to have the backing of the Catalan savings bank La Caixa, which provided the formal €57m deposit-guarantee he needed to stand for the presidency. According to one recent report, however, Madrid's debt is an estimated €500m and they are determined to raise money by offloading players this summer.

  5. Fast.. the last time you heard? Oh really? The last time YOU HEARD? I see. That sounds really reliable. Have you checked Forbes lately? Yes, the world famous Forbes stated that in 2007 alone, Real Madrid had revenues of around 400 million euros and debts of 272 million which they paid that year. £500 million? You're having a laugh. We're not Manchester United with their 800 plus million euros in debt. I do know what I'm talking about as a matter of fact, I've been reading detailed news of Real Madrid for the last decade, unlike most fans here talking garbage on how Madrid will go bankrupt. We're not Chelsea, we know how to handle our finances. And what garbage are people talking about stating that Madrid will never be forced to pay out loans? What are your sources? That's right, none. No reliable sources whatsoever have stated that. Do you actually think a country will go to that extent to help out a sport club? Really? You don't think they have other issues to take care of? You honestly think with the recession going on, the banks would loan out hundreds of millions of euros to Real Madrid? You obviously know nothing about finances and economics. That will NEVER happen. If the government really are on Madrid's side then why did they go bankrupt on a number of occasions, most recently in the 90's. You don't know that don't you. Stick with your Premier League news and leave the experts to those that follow the Spanish league like myself.

Just look what Man.U. and Chelsea did to the english football.Spending 100's of millions for foreign players and who can keep up with them ???? Arsenal,Liverpool??? Same as in Spain,-- Real ,fallowing Barca and three more clubs and nothing more. The same was happened in Italy 10-15 years ago and now Juve--Roma-Lazio is playing half empty stadium.......and one simple question,Why the Arsenal playing in the English liga when many years did not had one english player ?? Now the have one--Wilcot ??????

  9. indonoob, you talk as if you know so much better than everyone else then make the most stupid statement of all!
Of COURSE Real are in debt, they have more debt than anyone else!! (£500million last time i heard) so get your facts straight before you start spouting off at people with illegitimate arguments.

the reason, and the ONLY reason Real get away with it is because they are set up as, effectively, a non-profit social trust. This means they do not need to generate £30 million a year just to service their debt (like United).

Whatever debt they hold (and detail here is murky) is with local banks, many of whom are under political and social pressure not to tighten the screws. Real are too big and too important for spain as a country to fail or to come under the kind of debt pressures that affect traditional clubs. (just like the millenium dome in London, remember when that was getting built? it was too important to the stupid MP's as a showcase of Britain entering into the 20th centrury and they would not allow it to fail despite costing a disgusting amount of money) The club's social, political and economic significance dwarfs that of any other club in the world, with the possible exception of Barcelona. In that sense, they play by a different set of rules.

In other words, unlike almost any other operation in the world (with the possible exceptions of their rival Barcelona and the United States government), Real can keep on spending almost forever, knowing that their debts will never be called in. It really does give a whole new meaning to "too big to fail."

  11. All of you are idiots. It's fun to see almost every member in this topic act like some financial experts. Madrid is the richest club in the world, have you thought of that? They make 300 million euros a year and so far they've spent around 200. They have the biggest TV deal in the world, highest average attendance in Europe and are not in debt. How could they go bankrupt. Most of you are newbie fans that started watching football in the last few years. I've been watching for over a decade. Madrid will NOT go bankrupt. Watch our revenue go higher and higher each year. Don't hate on a club because of the fact that the billionaires that own your club brought debts with them.

Its a capitalist world brother, money rules and football is not exempt from the laws of the market. Real havea bottom plot courtesy of their connections with the Spanish Royal Family and the Francoista's who still have a political party in Spain and they will keep spending until the banks start calling in the loans. However buyuing uop all the talent available and playing most of it in rhe reserves won't keep the new galacticos happy.
