West Brom head coach Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed the club have agreed personal terms with Swindon striker Simon Cox.
The battle for Cox's signature has been fierce this summer with a handful of bids being rejected, while the likes of Celtic have also been linked with the 22-year-old.
But Albion won the race with an offer believed to be in the region of £2 million including add-ons after Cox initially caught the eye of former Baggies boss Tony Mowbray before his switch north of the border to Parkhead.
Cox scored 32 goals in all competitions last season and Di Matteo said: "I am aware of the deal and that we have agreed terms. The player will be coming in next week for a medical.
"He is a very good player, has a very good scoring record and I am happy for the deal to go ahead."

HAS ROBBO GONE YET?, oh no, he`s still with us. bugger!.
Hey Si, I agree with you...i'd like nothing more than a derby with the Baggies in the Premier League in 2010/11. I also think there is a half reasonable chance that could happen.
Cheers and have a good one.
Pete, Birmingham are your friends now, not according to my Dingle mates they would rather play the Albion. 2 seasons you have to beat in the prem and Summer, Autumn,Winter and Spring do not count.
Good Luck Any Way and we will keep your place warm.
Bless you Si...our derbys are against Stoke, Villa and Birmingham. Who are your's against again?
Peter E, Stoke is your local derby so read about beating them, South Staffs Dingle.Sorry about the spelling mistake did not relise.
BLACK COUNTRY BAGGIES.
Congratulations...who turned the telly on for you?
dingles are gonna do a derby hahahahahaha.i watched you on the telly last season and you are awful, you might just make double figures.boing boing
Iain - you couldn't beat us in a mascot race! Your logo looks lovely alongside the likes of the Posh and Scunny and your manager can't even pass his FA badges...
Si - not too dumb to know how to spell 'realise' and not too irrational to grasp you're the ones looking up to us! Anyway, I'm always interested to know whats happening in the lower leagues...we can't afford to lose good feeder clubs like the the Albion.
Remember one thing Peter E......you're always beat by a Tesco's carrier bag !!
Dingles cannot resist reading about the Albion because they no for well they support the wrong club and just to dumb to relise it.
Tescos will probably play him at fullback...
2 - Dingle, u and ur weekend female persona. Mark in the week, laura at weekends
he likes relegation
