Championship - Keane wants 'four of five' more signings

Eurosport - Fri, 03 Jul 11:32:00 2009

Roy Keane is looking to sign "four or five" more players for Ipswich, hopefully within the next two weeks.

2008-2009 Ipswich Town Roy Keane - 0

As the current crop of players began pre-season training this week, Keane admitted that two potential signings were virtually agreed and was still hoping to add at least two more ahead of the season's kick-off on August 8.

He told the Evening Star: "We've probably been linked with 50 or 60 players over the last few weeks and it would be unfair of me to talk about players until they've signed.

"I hope, in time, to bring in maybe four or five. We are close with two and there will be hopefully be another two or three over the next two weeks.

"The fun and games will start over the next few weeks when managers get back to their clubs and take stock of what they've got. It's quite difficult these days with the transfer fees that are mentioned, but if you want quality you've got to pay for it."

  6. As for Robson and Allardyce . . .get your facts right; BOTH were fired by their respective Chairmen, it had nothing whatsoever to do with the fans! Allardyce's card was marked the day ashley took over and we defo, defo did not want Robson removed.

  8. cameron- i was debating, Debating the dross you were writing, Keane walked because he was told by the money men that if he had to be more involved in the club, rather than turning up once a week for training, But like a 3 year old he spat his dummy and walked, Just like he did at Man Utd. as for hounding out, what about Dalglish, souness, bobby robson, Gulliet, big sam, fat boy shepard, and not forgetting Mr Sunderland himself Mike Ashley, all them in the last 10-12 years or so. Thats FICKLE for ya.

  12. Heslop, we only hound out the bad ones mate; Gullit & Souness, as for that owner . . . . . are you having a laugh or what - oh, and it was that owner who got rid of Big Sham, NOT the fans!
Keane did wonders for your club, and you all (majority at least) turned on him, as did your players!
As for you muf_dvr1, - yes this is a forum, so instead of merely hurling insults, why don't you start debating you thick s(hit)!

I think Keane will do a good job at Ipswich Town - he got the mackems promoted and their notoriously fickle fans 'rewarded' him by hounding him out. . . . shocking treatment, i daresay you Ipswich fans will be a lot more patient!

Ipswich will NOT win the Championship - no way man!
If we (Newcastle United) are sold next week (looks likely), we will win the division.
