Roy Keane is looking to sign "four or five" more players for Ipswich, hopefully within the next two weeks.
As the current crop of players began pre-season training this week, Keane admitted that two potential signings were virtually agreed and was still hoping to add at least two more ahead of the season's kick-off on August 8.
He told the Evening Star: "We've probably been linked with 50 or 60 players over the last few weeks and it would be unfair of me to talk about players until they've signed.
"I hope, in time, to bring in maybe four or five. We are close with two and there will be hopefully be another two or three over the next two weeks.
"The fun and games will start over the next few weeks when managers get back to their clubs and take stock of what they've got. It's quite difficult these days with the transfer fees that are mentioned, but if you want quality you've got to pay for it."

Nice one mate, that's what it's all about!
ha ha, having a little chuckle here cameron, Good crack man, like it, that got ya back up! funny tho. keep postin, thing is someone is always going to disagree. there's always one wind up merchant. But i have to be honest, you do post some valid comments, But you like most of us post some @#$%, Must be the rose tinted glasses us football fans wear.
Sorry i had to break that 'DROSS' as you call it, into loads of posts; the asreholes at Yahoo are at it again with their 'invalid' carp!
What would you call the fans at man united who are currently welcoming owen with open arms?
Fickle?
Absolutely mate; we're all the same!
As for Robson and Allardyce . . .get your facts right; BOTH were fired by their respective Chairmen, it had nothing whatsoever to do with the fans! Allardyce's card was marked the day ashley took over and we defo, defo did not want Robson removed.
I mentioned Gullit and souness myself and they were rightfully hounded out, as was Dalglish, he was dreadful too - clueless!
As for Shepherd, he wasn't hounded out, he sold up to ashley.
ashley hunded out - YES absolutely AND justifiably so and NOBODY can fault us for that!!!!
cameron- i was debating, Debating the dross you were writing, Keane walked because he was told by the money men that if he had to be more involved in the club, rather than turning up once a week for training, But like a 3 year old he spat his dummy and walked, Just like he did at Man Utd. as for hounding out, what about Dalglish, souness, bobby robson, Gulliet, big sam, fat boy shepard, and not forgetting Mr Sunderland himself Mike Ashley, all them in the last 10-12 years or so. Thats FICKLE for ya.
Come on Tractor Roy! Take us o the premier league
keane walked cos he did not get on with our american money man who thought as he was paying his wages that he should at least turn up for work 3 days during the week.keane did say he would walk after the fans booed him for putting out a weak team against lower league team in the carling cup,he can't take it if he doesn't get it all his way at ipswich he'll do it again abit like keegan
Hey Heslop, you bit good style there mate!
Heslop, we only hound out the bad ones mate; Gullit & Souness, as for that owner . . . . . are you having a laugh or what - oh, and it was that owner who got rid of Big Sham, NOT the fans!
Keane did wonders for your club, and you all (majority at least) turned on him, as did your players!
As for you muf_dvr1, - yes this is a forum, so instead of merely hurling insults, why don't you start debating you thick s(hit)!
Would agree with Andrew Smith (Smith-Watford) & Marc (Ricky Lambert) both plenty of goals. Whether we'll win the leauge time will tell, one thing I'm sure about we'll be very close. Come on Roy lets role them tractors all over the championship and make my year.
Simon Hall (Stoke On Trent) Blue
Keane is a good manger there's no doubt about that but he think's he can get what he want's and I don't like that.
Can't wait for the season to start ,Keane is the breath off fresh air the club needs, it will be my way or the highway with Keane
from jrd
fickle fans? cameron how many managers have u lot hounded out and now u've hounded out ur owner if u hadn't kicked off when kk walked out maybe u would of got a decent manager and not be in the position u are now so if ur talking about fickle fans look no further than ur beloved black and white army.keano here's five u can sign gordon, nosworthy, whitehead, murphy and mcshane
ps
I think Keane will do a good job at Ipswich Town - he got the mackems promoted and their notoriously fickle fans 'rewarded' him by hounding him out. . . . shocking treatment, i daresay you Ipswich fans will be a lot more patient!
Ipswich will NOT win the Championship - no way man!
If we (Newcastle United) are sold next week (looks likely), we will win the division.
Lets hope he buys some respectable players with the money that is made available to him and not a load of old stiffs who may only have a season or two left in them....Youth is the future.....
lifetime ipswich supporter cant wait to see what Roy does hope to be playing top flight next year again!!
