Premier League - Chelsea seal Sturridge deal

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of promising young striker Daniel Sturridge on a four-year deal after his contract expired at Manchester City.

FOOTBALL Daniel Sturridge 2009 - 0

The 19-year-old's fee has not been disclosed, but was settled by a tribunal.

Sturridge, nephew of former Derby forward Dean, made 26 appearance for City last season, scoring four times.

The England Under-20 forward will now join up with the rest of the first-team squad when they return for the start of pre-season training next week.

  1. Presumably he rates Chelsea as having a poorer squad­ than Man City - and so thinks he might have a better­ chance of playing. I have to say, though, he has a­ sulky face and showed absolutely no emotion over­ scoring against West Brom at the end of the season. If­ that's what Chelsea want, they can have him.

  7. Maybe instead of sniping people should realise that­ when the poison frog gets his way all clubs playing in­ ECL will need to fill their quota of­ "British" players - hence "bench­ warmers".

  20. Well,this is my advice for Chelsea,just as a fan I­ am,let not put all our eggs in one basket,it's ok­ by me as Chelsea sign the young promising star but­ let's not forget that the New Broom sweeps better­ but the fact remains that the Old Broom knows the four­ coners of the room.
