The 19-year-old's fee has not been disclosed, but was settled by a tribunal.

Sturridge, nephew of former Derby forward Dean, made 26 appearance for City last season, scoring four times.

The England Under-20 forward will now join up with the rest of the first-team squad when they return for the start of pre-season training next week.

  1. looks like we're about to see a new benchwarmer at Chelsea ! shame on him,, he'll never have a chance to play for Chelsea just like Di Santo.

  3. As a City Fan, I am gutted that we have let one of our most promising youngsters go, I think it would have been so much better to give him the deal he was after and not bothered with the likes of Bellamy. Lets just hope that Onouha and Richards and Ireland etc other quality youth teamers don't get moved on.

  4. what's this ? when was the last time Chelsea signed 2 free youngsters in the same week ? are Chelsea running out of money ?

  5. He don't care about football,he'll be on 20=grand a week for the next four years and'll be on the bench/reserve the whole time...Mnoey for nothing.

    No ambition.

  6. Yip, Aguero wanted £200,000 a week plus would have cost £40Million only a fool would pay that sort of money, only a moronic idiot (preferably backed by a fascist royal family with massive loans that majically disappear) would spend that sort of money of a footballer at the moment.

  7. Greedy little git! I hope he vanishes and ends up playing low division fotball as he will not get a game for Chelsea, if he does he will not impress as he is years away from being anywhere near top quality. WELL DONE CITY IN NOT GIVING INTO A PLAYER WHO HAS SCORED 4 GOALS AND WANTS THE BIG MONEY!

  9. I aint really happy with this as I feel it will stop us buying a top quality striker. I know we now have 2 promising young strikers in sturridge and di santo but they are never going to be of the quality of aguero are they?

yes we have 5 strikers now plus sheva and pizzaro as well but after another 2 seasons max were gonna have these 2 young boys only really being of age to be 1st team regulars and we will then need to go out and spend big big money on a top proven striker. Do it now before they all get snapped up in this transfer window. it seems to be what everyone else is trying to do.

to be hinest I just dont really rate the boy
