England Under-21 international Kieran Gibbs has signed a new long-term contract extension with Arsenal.
Last season proved a breakthrough for the 19-year-old left-back, who stood in for injured Gael Clichy during the closing weeks of the campaign and played in both the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Champions League and went on to represent England at the European Under-21 Championships in Sweden last month.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: "Kieran made such a great impact last season and the progress he made throughout the year was fantastic."
He added: "Kieran is an intelligent player with huge quality and he proved last season with his performances that he has great potential.
"We are delighted that Kieran has committed his future to Arsenal and we are all excited to watch his future development at the club."
Arsenal have moved this week to tie up several of their youngsters on new long-term deals, with Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey agreeing contract extensions while four members of the successful FA Youth Cup team signed pro forms.
Holland international Robin van Persie, last season's top scorer, is expected to agree terms on a new deal shortly.

he has potential but thats all he was terrible v man utd in the semis last season like a lot of arsenal players of late not filling their potential but in wenger we trust
waste for a club like asernal no time to silly mistakes so mr gibbs is not worth the headline he can sign 100 years for all i care
i hope for england case this Gibbs guy will improve and hopefully
one day be a part on england set up hopefully
well is this worth a headline?gibbs ya ryt
watch out .... chelski will be after him too ;-) !!
Why all the talk of Ashley to give his position up? Aren't you people watching games? I hate it when people write him off all the time, with nothing but personal issues as a point. What's wrong with you people? Cause it's clear that nothing's wrong with him.
cashley cole is finished this guy will overtake him next season and he will be in englands first team
its good that wenger like youngersta but please sign some big players too to help us
go for the tittle
Apparently he has been signed up for the women's team!
this player has a big future
good boy,, he'll replace Cashley for England ASAP.
i think he will improve alot after the funniest mistake at CL
