Premier League - Second City bid for Terry rejected

Eurosport - Fri, 03 Jul 17:53:00 2009

Chelsea have rejected a second offer from Manchester City for their captain John Terry.

FOOTBALL2008-09 Premier League Chelsea captain John Terry - 0

The size of the offer made by City was not revealed in a statement from the Blues, however, the south-west London club sought to end any further interest saying they would "not entertain any conversation on the subject".

The news comes as the latest rebuff for City, who have already had a bid to sign Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o knocked back this summer. City made an offer for the 28-year-old defender last season when they encountered similar short shrift from the Blues, who this morning reiterated the England captain's desire to stay at Stamford Bridge.

"We can confirm we have completely rejected an offer from Manchester City for John Terry," a statement on the club's website read.

"It was made clear to City, for a second time following an approach last season, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject. At the time John also reiterated his total commitment to Chelsea.

"We would like to make it clear, and will not do so again, that John is not for sale."

  2. Seems to me you red fans are blogging on a city related site again, Who's the sad ones.......!! There must be a little bit of the old panic setting in since you two of your best players have told you to shove it and that is followed up by some of your main targets saying the same. Worry less about us blues and more about whats happening within................ Fergy's even gone to the desperation move by looking at Owen, someone he would not have entertained a few weeks ago. Anyway get real you reds, we blues will not be up there just yet, but we will be soon and when we do............... :-) Oh! onto the main subject, J.T. would have been a good buy, but no sleep lost, as there will be players out there hungry enough to prove they are just as good and have the foresight to see a club on the up.

  3. elrosso make no mistake about it if chelsea kept mourino they would have won most of the silver ware ,if ferguson left old trafford in a hurry you would be out of the top four in a flash! chelsea are the strongest team in europe and most football fans except man u and liverpool know it the others are just scrotes

  4. Hey John if you sign for City you too could get a free playstation 3 (sick of these adds) ruining a good board.

As a City fan i was slightly suprised we went in for Terry, great player but he's a one man club and it would take something seriously special to prize him away from Chelsea, can't see this happening whatsoever.

Hey JW Man Utd could field two teams in the premiership with their current squad and they would finish in the top two. We got rid of our dead wood (Ronaldo and Tevez) and replaced them with better players. Real Madrid have been mugged off. The reason players do not join is because they realise they will struggle to get a first team place. Benzema, Ribery and Kaka will get a game at Madrid but at Old Trafford they would be on the bench so they have gone to a mediocre club. Man Utd outclassed Barcelona in the final just like they did Chelsea the season before but sometimes in football the best team does not take its chances and ends up losing. Every who knows anything about football accepts that Man Utd are the best and biggest club in world football.

  13. elrosso NOT european champs though, up the Barcelona, with the loss of Tevez and Ronaldo you probably wont make the champions league next year. Take a look, no one wants to be at man u any more and no one of quality wants to go there. Has beens

  16. Hey JW I support Man Utd. The world champions with the best two central defenders in the world. JT would not get in our first team cos he is @#$%. Man Utd are going to continue to dominate world football so get used to it cos we walk tall wherever we go.

  17. they've got no chance, terry's not going to leave

From krapinyo, on Fri 3 Jul 10:25AM
  18. Terry, unlike others such as Ronaldo, Benzema, Ribery, kaka, knows where his loyaltyies lie and will see out his career at chelsea. The aboved mentioned players are in the game for the money and will take the highest bidder and have no loyalty to any club. This is what makes JT unique, other than being the best captain in the country, hence captain of England, so shush already. Theres as much chance of JT leaving Chelsea as there is of Venus Williams taking up F1, finding an honest politician, Paul Parker writing a good article or a blind person driving the wrong way up the fast lane of the M1 and not crashing!
