Transfers - Your view: Where now for outcasts?

Eurosport - Fri, 03 Jul 09:27:00 2009

There seems to be no stopping Real Madrid after their furious burst of transfer activity so far this summer.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 La Liga Real Madrid Van der Vaart - 0

Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol have already put pen to paper on mega-deals at the Bernabeu, with Franck Ribery likely to be next to join Los Merengues.

Where will it end? With a seemingly bottomless pit of money available, more new recruits are certain to follow as Florentino Perez delivers on his promise to bring in another Galatico era.

It can only be bad news for their rivals, both at home and abroad.

But there may be a silver lining to Real's dominance of the transfer market. With so many new stars arriving, surely a cull of the existing squad will soon follow?

Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rafael van der Vaart (pictured), Klass Jan Huntelaar, Wesley Sneijder - all players whose Madrid careers may well be at an end.

Clubs across Europe are on red alert - which Real outcasts would you like to see playing for your team next season?

  1. whats the deal with this selling rampage against Dutch players anyways lol :)
Arent there any other players they could sell? Maybe less solid ones?
Not that those Dutch players are any/or much better than their playmates, but certainly nothing less!

  3. Football has gone from a sport to a gamble on the stock market. I have lost all desire to even watch another game in the present climate. Is Perez for Real (NO PUN INTENDED). He would'nt know a sporting game if it bit him in the arse. Money talks or in Real Madrids case government funds by a system that does'nt have a sporting bone in its makeup, and a UEFA board that calls foul when any other team other than a Spanish one acts in this cavalier fashion. Time to join the library I think or take up fishing.

  4. i totally agree with shujaahmad2004. where are real getting their money from. that french @#$% platini is more than likely turning a blind eye to their didgey antics. i reckon sapp blatter is funding them the one eyed wanka. nothing will be done and they will get away with it. 80 million for one man. nobody is worth that, money has ruined football!

  7. Why dont United fans just go and read and comment on United storys, seems like they have problems with teams buying players they wish they could have Arrre Didddems.

  9. I'm looking forward to see how all this circus (RM current squad) will perform on the pitch. If Madrid will buy Ribery, they will have to find room in the squad for: Ronaldo, Kaka, Ribery, Benzema, Higuain, Raul. How will the play? I'm positive that neither of them will show the same quality as they have before, becouse there will be no room for those players on the pitch. Benzema likes to operate on flanks, Ronaldo likes to switch positions, Kaka is playing all around the pitch, Ribery plays everywhere in midfield... They just won't be able to show their full potential. Not to mention that with so many attacking players, they will have no room for a solid midfield.
Ok, let us imagine Benzema as a center forward, Ronaldo and Ribery as wide players, Kaka - as a playmaker, and Raul as a second sriker. But what abaut brilliant Higuain, who kept RM from falling even deeper last season, what about Robben, who played very good, what about Huntelaar, who managed to score 1 goal every 2 games, after a serious injury? Real already have great players, I could understand if they bought Ronaldo and Kaka. But Where are they planing to scueese in Benzema and possibly Ribery?
What Real realy needs is a good, solid central defender, a left defender, and a season of stability, so that the team can find it's game.

  11. Only last year Wenger tried to sign Huntelaar and Wenger has made it clear he wants another striker and atleast two more attacking midfield options, and one more defender. So, Robben who Wenger also wanted to sign but was pushed out of it by Chelsea's millions at the time might be a good option. As for Van Der Vaart, his relationship with Van Persie could see him move to Arsneal. But the smart money would be a move to Italy as he has been shadowed by Juventus for some time.

  12. To heldersmelder - Both Liverfool & Chelski have outspent Man united over the last 5 years. This was revealed on Sky sports centre to Phil Thompson's dismay. Man utd tend to spend a large sum on one player but also sell players for reasonable sums whereas liverpool have bought lots of players for small-mid range sums but made a loss when selling the players that didn't make it. And the less said about Chelsea's transfer policy, the better!
As a united fan, i don't care about Real buying players. I'm actually more concerned on where their money is coming from. But please check your facts before slating Man United. I know they are everyone's favourite team to slate but it is quite obvious that they are not the biggest spenders in the league - Liverpool & Chelsea have outdone them over the last 5 years and there may be other teams who have surpassed them as well.

  13. Who gives a @#$% about Man U all there fans commenting on every story, your gutted lost Ron And Tevez so now cry like spoilt kids throwing there teddy out the pram, you lot forget about spending 33 million on a centre half 8 years ago paying 120k+ a week wage.
You lot started the stupid massive pay deals now you cant compete so what if Citys money is from a wealthy Invester at least they are not in 800 million pound dept and buying players for 20 mill which is what united have been doing..

From heldersmelder, on Thu 2 Jul 7:54PM
  14. All the moaning the Man U fans are doing over Madrid And City just smells of the stench of Manure Jealousy
United have spent vast amounts of cash on players just add up the cost of the current squad, Its only now United have pried themselves out the Market with the inflated Ron fee that this has happened. United shot themselves in the foot and are now dancing around on one leg blaming everyone else. Spurs have spent vasts amounts of cast in the last 2 years prob out spending most English teams didnt hear the Mancs moaning about that. Dont forget football isnt just about Man U.
What does make me laugh is United fans talking about siging Madrids outcasts, you wont get them either lol.

From heldersmelder, on Thu 2 Jul 7:48PM
  15. United spent what they earnt with winning trophies and marketing (even if others thought it was excessive), chelsea spent from a rich owner (as are Man City) But where are Real getting the funding from? They haven't won anything from last year, they haven't got past the quarter finals in the champs lge for over 5 years & they have had some of the biggets wage bills in world football. They also had some of the biggest debts in football.
This is the issue with Real's spending spree - not the fact they are spending money without consequences but they have had their debts wiped by spanish banks & have had the go ahead to spend all this money! if they had this money from an owner or from continuosly winning trophies then i don't think many people would be complaining about them. The fact is there is something dodgy and underhand about the way Real are operating at the moment.
The equivalent in england would be Liverpool (in big debts) going out and buying 3-4 players for nearly £200 miilion pounds in one month. It just wouldn't happen! So how are Real doing it?

  18. Bayern Munich should sell Frank Ribery to real and should get as a part exchange, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder and Klass Jan Huntelaar. Come On Bayern wake up..

  20. I'll have Van der Vaart and Sneijder for United no probs, Huntelaar too!! Then we can show Madrid how to get the best from players with the correct infrastructure and coaching. They are famed for buying our rejects and it is because they are an entertainment firm not a football team. United is famous for making players, every time we buy an established 'star' they fall flat on their face. Look at Ronaldo, useless show pony before SAF waved his magic wand. Perez wants a return to the Franco days, let him have it. United will prove again that we can cope with departures and adversity, just as we did after Munich. Wait and see as the new flowers of Manchester bloom and dominate for years to come. UNITED WE STAND
