i thought i over heard safina said that she is going to­ dominate when being interviewed before the match, but­ it was a big suprise to see that she is the one being­ dominated and demolished by Venus from the first to the­ last set of the match, does it mean that she mistakenly­ made the statement? she did not play like world number­ 1 but played like a learner, i am very impressed the­ way dementivia played she really fought back with high­ spirit, i felt for her when she couldn't make it to­ the final. The williams sisters proved once more that­ they the best when it comes to grass, i think the­ centre court should be renamed as Williams sisters­ court

i still demand to know who voted safina in as world­ number 1 women tennis player, i think the system of­ ranking in women tennis should change, safina is a good­ talent player who is very earger to achieve great goals­ in women tennis, but i don't see her good enough to­ be ranked world number 1 at the moment

#237, The women tennis in Navratilova time, Billie Jean­ King, Tracy Austin was different from what you are­ seeing today. it has become more technical now with­ imporved racquets, financial interests in the game and­ sponsoring etc. When Navratilova tried a come back, she­ had no sponsor and so she did it alone but couldn't­ pass fist round. She retired to playing mixed doubles..­ The present crops of women now playing tennis are more­ educated and vibrant and can read games. There are more­ interest in the game now than ever before. The women­ tennis has gone a different level than it was in the­ days of Steffi and Navratilova. There was no power game­ then. It was slow and more a guesing game. We talk of­ women tennis more than men now because, there are more­ characters in women tennis, they are more marketable­ just like in football Beckham is a marketable product­ than actual player. From the time of Kournikova, The­ British press has put more emphasis on the driving­ force of the game and that is advertisment. The much­ talk about williamses is the phenominal presence they­ exhibited not necessarily the adverts they generate,­ but because of the power phenomenon they brought to the­ game.. Moreover how can two sisters be so dominant for­ over a decade now when the likes of Henin and­ clijsters, Hinges, Davenport have all gone consequent­ of this power game. This is what is killing the Russian­ players. They want to play power game with williamses­ and failed woefully. As with men's tennis, there is­ only one person doing the damage and that is Federa and­ of course Nadal who stopped him. The characters you see­ today in men's tennis are not the characters you­ saw with Mcenroe, Yanis Noah, Edberg, Ivan Lendel etc.­ The current crops are publicity seekers, you see it in­ Murray and Karlovic, Tsonga and Davdenko. Federa is­ cool like sampras and they go into the business. They­ are not entertainers like Agassi, Boris Becker­ (Boomboom).

Safina doesn't shock me any more she just make me­ laugh as much as Venus out played her in every­ department i felt Safina didn't bother to try­ anything different. Players that come in having seen­ the Williams bring the hard hitting game to the froe­ front forget to have an all court game or at least the­ thought to change it up. Safina knows 1 thing if­ hitting the ball hard does not work just hit it harder,­ she off all people should know hitting hard and playing­ to the line is and always has been HIGH PERCENTAGE­ TENNIS which just means more chance of it going out. i­ never saw her attempt to take the pace off and go for­ angle force Veus to see something different serve to­ the body, come in make Venus come to net no she just­ went all out attack and if that does not work attack­ more. I believe no matter what she would ahve lost but­ i would have liked to see a plan B or an attemtp but­ nothing and she would like to call herself a number 1­ that can't recognise when she should change her­ game plan. Her coach whom she so desparatly looks at­ when things are going wrong can't do it for you but­ i can be sure that hard coaching been allowed in slams­ she would have called him down and he not her would­ have given her the asnwers as he. Safani needs to work­ on a plan B what can i do if my serve is nt wokring,­ what can i do if my oppnenet she won't cut me a­ break, learn to deal with a "i feel pressure c r a­ p" and what to do to calm my nerves it just no­ good displaying the rubbish she did to day further­ proving that her being number 1 is a true joke. No­ body should even tell me winning slams is not important­ because it is, no one will remember her winning Rome or­ Madrid when it come down to it when ever you here about­ a Champion you here about there slams not that they got­ a semis but whether they won a slam or not.

I thnink we can now close this chapter until next US­ open. The final is no longer a point of discusion but a­ tounament of exhibition of two great ladies tennis­ power. I hope Mr williams takes the next plane home­ tomorrow and not even bother to know the result as it­ is not going to be different.. Venus the winner

If you look at the mens side of things you will see the­ last few years has been dominated by Federer and Nadal­ with a couple of good players following. so you can­ say that apart from about 4 players on the mens side­ dominating the game I never heard anyone discussing it­ as how they do with the 2 best players in the­ womens' game. When Navaratilova and Graff was­ winning 9 and 7 times at Wimbledon I never hear this­ kind of talk. If you look at the history of the game it­ has always been about 2 players excelling with a couple­ of pretenders. A lot of people have short memories.­ Also its because their are sisters. CONGRATULATIONS TO­ THEM and may all the other tennis players step up to­ the plate and show some metal. I love Elena but when­ it really matter in a couple of points she blinked. She­ could have won the match today, and I wished she did,­ and thats coming from a staunch Venus and Serena fan
