Following his domination at the first ever Latvian GP, Antonio Cairoli is looking to take his fifth win of the year at the Swedish GP in Uddevalla this weekend. The 11th stage on the 15 stop FIM World Championship series, Cairoli has a strong lead in the MX1 class. In his first full season in the larger engine MX1 category, Cairoli has already taken four victories, with experienced campaigner Jonathan Barragan managing just two.
While Cairoli sits 57 points clear at the top of the Championship standings, there remains just 30 points separating second and sixth place riders. With just five rounds left in the series no riders in the top six can afford to make a mistake as the pressure builds towards the seasons final leg in Brazil.
KTM rider Marvin Musquin of France sits in a similar position to Cairoli at the top of the MX2 class, leading closest rival Gautier Paulin by a comfortable 49 points. Musquin finished in second place overall behind teammate Rui Goncalves at the last GP in Latvia, extending his points lead over Championship runner-up Paulin. Paulin made his comeback in Latvia after missing the previous two races. Bud Racings Paulin missed most of the 2008 season due to injury and will be keen to prove himself at this weekends race.
