Ian Black is aiming to make an immediate impact at Hearts and force his way into manager Csaba Laszlo's plans ahead of the new season.
The midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement with the Jambos back in December and finally checked in at Tynecastle this week. The 24-year-old caught the eye of Laszlo while at Inverness last term and is now keen to make the most of his dream move to the club where he was once a ballboy as a youngster.
"It will be the same with the rest of the boys and the new players coming in," he said.
He added: "It's a case of showing in pre-season that you're ready for that first game. Everybody will be all guns blazing and I hope to one of them.
"It feels great to be here. I'm excited and just looking forward to meeting everyone, seeing the manager again and getting down to work.
"I'm just itching to go. I can't wait. It's a massive club.
"To be here and to pull the jersey on is hopefully going to be great."
Asked what he can bring to the Gorgie side, Black added: "I'm a hard worker, I can keep the ball.
"I'm just going in there to play and enjoy it. If the manager tells me to play anywhere on the park, I'm happy to play."
