Bayern Munich have not given up hope of signing Jose Bosingwa from Chelsea, according to their chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The German club have turned their noses up at the Blues' asking price for the 26-year-old Portugal full-back, but Rummenigge has not ruled out a renewed bid.
"We are convinced about Bosingwa and that he would fit in really well at FC Bayern," he told Sport Bild magazine. "I don't think the book has been closed on this issue yet."
Rummenigge added that he remains in "serious contact with Chelsea" regarding the former Porto player, who has a contract with the London club until 2011.
Bosingwa has been earmarked as the man to take the right-back position which has never been adequately filled since Willy Sagnol started suffering from an Achilles tendon problem that brought a premature end to his career last season.
Owen Hargreaves and Hasan Salihamidzic were both tried in the role but have both since moved on to new clubs.
Christian Lell and Massimo Oddo also failed to impress there last term, making the signing of a tried-and-tested full-back the priority for new Bayern coach Louis van Gaal.

definitely cant afford to lose this guy. he was phenomenal last year being his first year in england. only way i would want to give him up is if it was 100% certain we'd get maicon. then we could use him to try and get ribery in exchange
If its not a done deal for Ribery to Real then watch Bosingwa become a make weight to pad out the cash fee when Chelsea go looking.
i dont think we should sell Bosingwa, he the best on the planet right now!
I wouldnt worry.. i dont think chelsea will sell him anyway
If Maicon aint comin in then this guy better not be leaving. isnt a replacement available with anywhere near the same quality
