New Burnley signing David Edgar has spoken of his sadness at leaving Newcastle.
The 22-year-old defender has joined the Clarets following Newcastle's acrimonious relegation from the Premier League, severing strong ties with the club.
Edgar said: "My mum and dad are both Geordies, so it was a difficult decision to leave. But it came down to what was best for me.
"I knew it was time to move on and I like the way Burnley are going. I have a good feeling about this move.
"I do not think many teams will want to play at Turf Moor. It is such a compact stadium."
Edgar was brought up in Canada after his dad Eddie - a former Newcastle and Hartlepool goalkeeper - emigrated.
