Stockport's landlords Cheshire Sport are confident that the troubled League One outfit's future at Edgeley Park will be safeguarded once the proposed takeover by the Melrose consortium has been completed.
Cash-strapped County went into administration at the end of April with crippling debts, but hope to be taken over by the consortium, headed by Jim Melrose, shortly.
A creditor's meeting was held on Friday and Cheshire Sport chief executive James Jennings believes a positive outcome will soon be reached.
He said in a statement to Press Association Sport: "Cheshire Sport is encouraged that following the creditor meeting that the Melrose consortium is now another step closer to saving the football club and ensuring that Stockport County will continue to play league football at its home ground for the foreseeable future.
"Hopefully following the meeting the Melrose consortium will be in a position to bring its acquisition of the football club to a successful outcome before the start of the new season.
"Cheshire Sport and the Melrose consortium are at an advanced stage of negotiation on the terms of a new lease and it hoped that these negotiations will be concluded early next week. We have met many times with the Jim Melrose and Graham Gallagher, who will be taking charge of the football club going forward, and have been very impressed with their knowledge of the sport and their plans for making Stockport County a successful club both on and off the pitch."
