Parkin talks up St Ledger

Fri 03 Jul, 09:33 AM

Preston striker Jon Parkin believes highly-rated defender Sean St Ledger would be worth £15million if he was a few inches taller.

St Ledger stands 6ft tall but has attracted admiring glances from several higher-placed clubs, with Celtic, Blackburn and Everton said to be monitoring him.

He earned international recognition from the Republic of Ireland after an outstanding campaign last term during which he regularly showcased his defensive prowess and ballplaying skills.

Parkin, who stands 6ft 4in, told PA Sport: "Sean is an outstanding player and I think if he was my height then he'd probably be worth £15million.

"I really believe that. He's an outstanding player but is obviously not the tallest for a centre-back.

"I think he could definitely play in the Premier League but thankfully he's a Preston player and we're delighted to have him."
