Brentford defender Mark Phillips is confident the League Two champions can successfully make the step-up to League One next season.

Phillips has this week agreed a new one-year contract with the Bees after starring in their title-winning campaign following an injury-hit final season with Millwall.

"Last season was a transitional year for me personally and I'm really looking forward to playing in League One next season," said the 27-year-old.

"I think the team will do well as I feel we're more suited to League One than to League Two. We like to pass the ball and play good football, and I think that will hold us in good stead."
