Accrington have announced the signing of former Shrewsbury striker Michael Symes - and handed new deals to three more players.

Andy Procter, Robert Grant and Peter Murphy have all put pen to paper ahead of the pre-season boot camp, which starts on Sunday.

Symes spent a month on loan at Accrington at the end of last season and has now signed a one-year deal following his release by Shrewsbury.

Meanwhile, Procter has signed a new two year deal, keeping him at the club until 2012. The 26-year-old central midfielder joined Stanley in February 2002 and has been a key member of the side since.

Former youth team players Grant and Murphy have been given 12-month and six-month contracts respectively, as they look to make the transition from promising youngsters to senior football.
