Younus Khan insists there will be no hangover from Pakistan's World Twenty20 triumph when they resume battle against familiar foes Sri Lanka in the first Test in Galle on Saturday.
Pakistan's eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final at Lord's on June 21 sparked massive celebrations at home, but captain Younus has urged his players to put such memories to the back of their minds and focus on the task in hand.
"We have won the World Twenty20, but that's in the past," the 31-year-old said. "It's back to business as usual. Every day is a new day and I believe in the present and the future, not in the past. So we have to move on and concentrate on the job at hand and prepare for the future."
Pakistan have unfinished business against Sri Lanka, with their last Test meeting disrupted by gunmen in Lahore four months ago.
The attack on the Sri Lankan team bus only served to further isolate Pakistan from the cricket community.
But Younus is determined to ensure Pakistan remain firmly in the spotlight.
"We have our targets and we would like to do well in the World Cup and the Champions Trophy," he said.
"I want Pakistan to be among the top three cricketing nations in the world."
