Simmo praises Shrews preparations

Sun 03 Aug, 05:45 PM

Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson has labelled his team's 1-0 defeat to Premier League side Stoke on Saturday as a "real tough test".Graham Coughlan made his Shrews debut following his midweek move from Rotherham, while rookie goalkeeper Luke Daniels also came into the starting XI.

But it was City who came out victorious on the hour mark thanks to a well-placed shot from striker Richard Cresswell.

The boss told the club's official website: "It was a very good game for us and a real tough test.

"I was pretty much pleased with everything other than conceding the goal but the result of a pre-season game isn't that important."

He added: "I think we have had a really good pre-season and I'm really chuffed to bits with it."
