Bristol City defender Jamie McAllister is a fitness doubt for the season-opener with Ipswich.
The Scot damaged his calf in Saturday`s friendly against West Brom and has been unable to train this week as a result.
"His calf is still sore," manager Keith Millen told the Bristol Evening Post. "He will continue to work with the physiotherapists and we will assess him on Thursday.
"Hopefully, he will be able to train by then and everything will be all right come Saturday."
Millen has been looking at adding an extra defender to his squad, with West Ham`s Jordan Spence linked with another loan spell at Ashton Gate following a succesful stint last season.
