Premier League - Taarabt spotted at bus stop during match

Mon, 03 Oct 09:26:00 2011

QPR star Adel Taarabt was spotted waiting at a bus stop outside a pub in his club tracksuit while his team-mates were still playing against Fulham, according to newspaper reports.

Rangers were hammered 6-0 at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon, and Taarabt - renowned for his petulance - apparently stropped off out of the ground following a furious half-time bust up with manager Neil Warnock.

The volatile Moroccan was reported to have headed out of the stadium and down by the river towards the Crabtree pub in Fulham before he was met by groups of QPR supporters, who had also left the ground early in disgust at their team's showing.

Taarabt had his photo taken with fan Kerry Smith, who posted the snap on Twitter.

She tweeted: "It was bizarre! He spoke briefly. He just asked what the score was and we heard another goal go in and he just rolled his eyes!

"His minders were kind of stopping him from talking. I didn't see him take other photos. He was ushered on when more people came out of the ground."

QPR refused to comment officially, but the playmaker is now facing a heavy fine as a result of the incident.

Rangers boss Warnock, said: "I've no idea what happened, but I don't think you can blame Adel Taarabt today.

"You're going to get days when Adel throws his toys out the pram.

"If you're not bothered about being subbed... I'd rather have players like that, me."

The former Morocco international, who quit playing for his country after having been dropped in June, scored 19 goals as QPR won the Championship last season.

Taarabt was stripped of the captaincy earlier in the season following the signing of midfielder Joey Barton.

  1. To Ian Hunter. Funny that. We (QPR) out played newcastle and should of won. If we are not good enough then Newcastle cannot be much better.

  2. Just like when he played at spurs never passed the ball and ran into blind alleys and now back in the premiership he is just another ordinary player with an inflated ego GROW UP BOY and prove you can crack it with the big league !

  4. Hero ? Star ?... He's a crappy footballer, ,, being a footballer doesn't make you a good person.

  5. If I were playing for a team getting thumped 6-0 I think I'd get the bus home. Anyway just the thought of QPR is enough to make you get on a bus to anywhere!

  8. I been a big Spurs fan for 27 years since 1984 & have seen some truly great players like Hoddle,Waddle,Gazza etc etc......Taarabt was just as skillfull as those but doesnt have the right attitude to achieve what those players did.I was shocked when we sold him & couldnt understand why we had.Now i know...............

  9. to 70 you 're an ignorant person :!Tarabat is a French Moroccan Citezen( he does not even speak Moroccan!) Taarabt grew up in Berre-l'Étang, France having moved there at the age of nine months!

So your statement he is Moroccan he wants to get of out the country shows some ignorance from your side Moreover who the freaking wants to leave a beautiful country like Morocco!

  10. Comment hidden due to its low rating. Show

It just shows the calibre of players when they cant even stay to the end of their own clubs game. He is obviously only in it for the kmoney. He has NO club loyalty but then as a moroccan he probably just wanted to get away from his own country. What ever happened to using home grown talent in home grown teams? Ah those were the days when brits played for british clubs.

  11. Of course, people who actually follow football in all forms, and not solely their own club would have a more balanced, mature and intelligent comment to make. The prem, like all previous seasons will be dominated by the (yawn) top 5 and the others will all scrap it out in true sporting style. Ranger's will survive, having brought in more players than anybody else, it just takes time to gel. shipping 6 goals is bad yes, but would you suggest Arsenal are going down for shipping 8 to Utd or 4 to Blackburn?? Could list many players over the years who have thrown a strop, any Man City fans comment on that?? No, thought not....

  12. Welcome to the Premier League QPR.
Taarabt is a good Championship player, Bothroyd isn't even that good and defenders lack pace and know-how.
All this coming from a Newcastle fan.
I hope you stay up for Barton's sake but players like Taarabt and Bothroyd will see you down, not to mention the defenders.

  14. Why do these so called 'stars' get paid so much when they just behave like complete prats........what an idiot. The guy's just like a kid throwing a tantrum. Alot of footballers now don't deserve respect because they act like petulant twats most of the time. I hope Warnock fines him a weeks wages at least. What on earth was Taarabt thinking of?

From Rob T, on Tue 4 Oct 5:55
  15. Get Mick Jones down there...now that's a proper star!

  16. The cracks are starting to show for QPR and their little mini run came crashing down on Sunday.I expected a couple of hammerings this season but not from Fulham.Taarabt is only a shell of the player he was last year even with Barton and SWP sharing the load.Warnock cant see Bothroyd is not good enough so he keeps putting him up front alone and the goals are not comming no big shock there.Kenny is suspect at this level and we should have tried to sign Shay Given this Summer but its too late now .Hopefully this incident wont ruin the dressing room and we can get 3 points next game

  19. Face it. With the form Fulham was in going into the match, and with QPR's best player Armand Traore injured, I'm not surprised Taarabt left early. It was only a question of how many Fulham would score. If they aren't careful, the team might just see more than one or two bust-ups.
