Kenny clinging on to Pars post

Sat 03 Nov, 07:30 PM

Dunfermline boss Stephen Kenny refused to discuss his position after the Pars suffered a third successive heavy defeat in the First Division.Last season's beaten Scottish Cup finalists were humbled 4-0 at home by Livingston, following defeats by 5-0 to Hamilton and 3-0 to Stirling on the past two weekends.

Steven Craig scored twice at East End Park, with Livingston's other goals coming from Mark Tinkler and Jason Kennedy.

Kenny's side were relegated from the Scottish Premier League last season, and pressure has mounted on the 36-year-old former Derry manager in the early stages of this campaign.

His side stand eighth, just one point off the foot of the First Division after their latest setback, and they are 16 points behind leaders Hamilton.

Kenny told reporters tonight: "I am here to talk about the match really not to talk about my position as such."

He added: "To lose the last three games is inexplicable really. It is not something that we could see happening; we had kept three clean sheets in the previous three."

Kenny had called for an improved performance from his charges but was left to watch another disappointing display in front of a crowd of 3,473.

"I felt that the players' attitude was right going out today," he said.

"A couple of weeks ago we had won three on the trot and went into the international break looking fairly solid defensively.

"We were doing okay, coming back into it, but the last couple of weeks have been a real shock to the system for everybody."
