Timo Glock said Lewis Hamilton won the World Championship by his own skills shown throughout the season and not because of the German's tyre choice for the final laps of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Glock opted to stay on dry-weather tyres as light rain fell in the closing stages of the race and though he did not lose too much time initially, the final lap proved crucial as Hamilton passed him in the last few hundred metres to give the Briton the fifth place he needed to win the title.
"It was a hard race. I tried my best to get some points for Toyota," Glock told BBC Radio Five Live.
"Six laps from the end I asked about the tyre situation and about the weather conditions and I said every time 'I'll stay out, one more lap, one more lap' and at the end I stayed out for the whole race.
"That last lap just cost us the chance to be in the top five, and in the end decided the World Championship," added Glock, who finished sixth, behind race winner Felipe Massa, the Brazilian who would have taken the title had Glock held on to fifth place.
"I think at the end I didn't give the title to Lewis, I think they worked for that the whole year, and Felipe as well," he said.
"They both did a really great job all year and in the end it was a dramatic finale.
"I think it's exactly what the fans want to see - maybe the Brazilian fans are not on my side any more but I tried my best and drove my race, and in the end I can't change it."

brian2lucas i bet glocks bank balance has rocketed anyway, i just wonder how much mclaren payed him?
Ollieboyyy, I have a question. Why do you keep repeating the same post over and over again? At least the idiot Touronroute changes his posts, they're still idiotic lies and no one believes him but at least he's consistent (consistently talks @#$% but he obviously can't help himself) but you keep posting the same thing.
Is the bolt that holds your head on coming loose so all you can do is cut and paste the same BORING thing? Why not try to post things that us grown ups will actually read and not just dismiss. Who knows you might even get listened to if you make an intelligent remark!
And the final award goes to the retarded brainless fool....
Ollieboyyy!!!
Runners up prize goes to a @#$% of equal note.....
Touronroute!!!!
Congratulations, I would say you worked hard for these awards, but its obvious all you did was activate all three of your brain cells and that was all.
Thanks for the laughs retards!!
ONCE A MCLAREN, ALLWAYS A MCLAREN CHEAT,NOW THERE ARE FOUR MCLAREN CARS ON THE GRID, YES,, TWO TRYING TO WIN,, TWO GETTING IN THE WAY,
what a stunning end to the season!
i have to say that the last 2 laps I couldn't believe what was happening. I kept shaking my head saying to myself this isn't possible. It seemed inconceivable that McLaren and Lewis had seemed to have thrown the championship away right at the very end of the race when all they had needed was 5th place.
Initially it seemed unbelievable that Timo could lose so much time(18 sec advantage on the last lap) and have Lewis overtake him with just two corners to go. I have to admit that I very briefly thought something was fishy. But it's very true(what has been said dozens of times) that had Timo and Toyota wanted to help Lewis win, they simply would have pitted for intermediates and Lewis could have cruised home in 5th without all the drama. However, McLaren were VERY lucky that it started to rain more heavily on the last lap. Had it held off for just another minute Glock would have been able to maintain grip and finish ahead of Lewis giving the championship to Massa
To anyone thinking that Glock did this on purpose knows little about driving an F1 car. It's difficult enough driving one in the dry. To drive one in pouring rain with slick tires would be like driving a car on ice. Impossible to control and to get the power down. Some have mentioned McLaren should have kept Lewis out on dries but had they done so and it rained harder and he spun off or lost so much time to finish 6th or lower, you would have seen hundreds of comments about how stupid McLaren were for NOT pitting for intermediates. What a tough call to have to make!!!!
Finally, it was shocking that Kubica(as a backmarker) overtook both Vettel and Lewis right at the end of the race. This was a reckless move and could very well have influenced the outcome of the race and championship. I thought Kubica was a tremendous driver throughout the year and have great respect for him but what a terrible boneheaded thing to do when you are lapped and not even near the points!
btw... the only thing worse than a sore loser, is a winner that gloats, claiming superiority while belittling the competition... tsk, tsk, tsk
let's see if i can be 'nice', ok? hamilton won, and good for him... BUT keep in mind, he did NOT do it all on his own... without the car, without the team, and without a certain element of luck, he'd not be where he is now... having said that, let's face facts, had it been kovaleinen letting hamilton through, it would NOT have been as dramatic an ending... nor would all you mclaren fans be 'complaining' about kimi and massa... enough with the hypocrisy...
I guess Glocks not on Massa's christmas card list this yeah hehe Loosers
Pusite ga crncugi jebeni Englezi.
To all farrari fans check massas lap times at silverstone in the rain. They were 30-50 seconds slower than everyone on intermediates similar to Glock at interlagos. Fact! Also 6th would have done Hamilton if 2 rounds earlier Kimi hadnt have let Massa through to claim bonus points. Fact. Hamilton should have won it sooner and a worthy champion!
Hope Glock takes all those tw4ts to court for defamation of character, then his bank balance will rocket, and yours will be empty.
Bet The FIA are still hard at work flicking through their rule book to find a reason to take the title away from Lewis !!!!
CHRIS P, The funnyest post ive read on here, CLASS
Comment 524. Brilliant couldn't be more true if it was real. Best comment i've read on here. Before all the ferrari fans start i do feel very sorry for Massa as i said in an earlier comment he drove a good season, but Lewis did enough this year and was more consistant over the whole season. Well done Lewis.

Why can't all the Lewis haters stop whimpering and just recognise the sporting achievement? He deserved the title and he won it, period. Excellence has nothing to with skin colour. Pele, Beckenbauer, Maradona...all great football players, different skin colour.
Glock let Hamilton thru on slicks in the wet. but its ok for Kimi to let Massa thru for a win. Ferrari fans GET A LIFE, Lewis is the champ and will be a contender 4 many years.
Guess what all LH haters - the title is OVER. Lewis WON! Deal with it!
LH's fans felt cheated last year too when Alonso scuppered LH's chances. Alonso should learn from Kimi. Kimi was Ferarri's number 1 driver and title holder but supported Massa when the points were no longer in his favour. Last year, Alonso refused to cede to a better driver cos of pride and arrogance.
The title would have been decided in LH's favour weeks ago if Kimi had done an 'Alonso' on Massa. LH is the best thing to happen to F1. Remember how he took out Fisichela earlier in the race? That was awesome!
This is a first of many titles for LH so if you want to hate him - good luck to you; all you'll get is high blood pressure and a heart attack.
Long live Prince Lewis!!!

Schumacher was a great driver, but he spoilt it with his over-aggressive charges from time to time specifically to push his opponent off track, he didn't need to do this to prove his superiority. I think - and I absolutely hope - that Lewis will achieve his potential through his talent and instinctive driving without resorting to such unsporting moves.
