Timo Glock said Lewis Hamilton won the World Championship by his own skills shown throughout the season and not because of the German's tyre choice for the final laps of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Glock opted to stay on dry-weather tyres as light rain fell in the closing stages of the race and though he did not lose too much time initially, the final lap proved crucial as Hamilton passed him in the last few hundred metres to give the Briton the fifth place he needed to win the title.
"It was a hard race. I tried my best to get some points for Toyota," Glock told BBC Radio Five Live.
"Six laps from the end I asked about the tyre situation and about the weather conditions and I said every time 'I'll stay out, one more lap, one more lap' and at the end I stayed out for the whole race.
"That last lap just cost us the chance to be in the top five, and in the end decided the World Championship," added Glock, who finished sixth, behind race winner Felipe Massa, the Brazilian who would have taken the title had Glock held on to fifth place.
"I think at the end I didn't give the title to Lewis, I think they worked for that the whole year, and Felipe as well," he said.
"They both did a really great job all year and in the end it was a dramatic finale.
"I think it's exactly what the fans want to see - maybe the Brazilian fans are not on my side any more but I tried my best and drove my race, and in the end I can't change it."

Hami was given a 25 second penalty, not a win taken away, if Massa was so slow he wouldn't have won with just a 25 second advantage "given" to him. Hami DID NOT follow the rules for gaining advantage at a chicane, he should have waited until after the next corner like the rules state to pass Kimi. Enough said both drivers had great seasons and had moments where they made mistakes, Massa was let down by his team, there is no FIA favouritism towards Ferrari, and in the end Glock couldn't handle his car on slicks, no McLaren interference! look forward to next season when the new rules will make a fair, even playing field for all the teams
Can we have a ceasefire? Season is over. Let's have another war of words next year.
OK ALL U HATERS PISS OFF!!!! IT WAS FFIN RAINING THE WEATHER ON THE WRONG TYRES SLOWED GL OCK DOWN NOT WHATEVER CONSPIRACY THEORIES YALL ARE HINTING AT!!!!! AS 4 ME AM OFF 2 THE PARTY AT SILVERSTONE LEW RULES
Massa won more races and showed more balls all season,
Hugh one of those wins was taken from Lewis ans given to Massa, remember the Spa race when Massa was tiptoeing around really really slowly, if the race didn't have a tme limit he'd still be there with 3 laps to do he was so slow. He has not won a race he's started from anywhere but the front row. If that's showing more balls, then I suggest you revisit your underwear drawer.
I think what Glock said was :
"I think at the end I DIDN'T give the title to Lewis, I think they worked for that the whole year, and Felipe as well,"
Okay hugh, could you please point to the source of your claim that the lap was 40 seconds slower.
No?
Is it because you've just made it up?
A55h0le!
I would love to see an onboard shot of Glock's last lap, 40 seconds slower???????
What a hollow championship to win based on this rubbish,
Hardly brilliant, scrappy driving to 5th to secure a championship
Massa won more races and showed more balls all season,
DO YOU NOT GET IT MAGHINIM???????
Massa only had the title in his sights because Glock Gambled by staying out on dry tyres.
He was in 7th place before all the 6 cars in front of him pitted to put on wet tyres with 3 laps to go.
If he had pitted, Hamilton wins driver title, if he stayed out he had a chance of taking the 5th position form Hamilton.
HE WAS TRYING TO BEAT HAMILTON!!!
HE TRIED HIS BEST.
Massa did not lose the championship because of Glock, he got handed the opportuntiy because of Glock but the rain came heavier and Glock & Massa ran out of luck!!!
What would you prefer, Glock to pit from 7th and stay in 7th or Glock to stay on dry tyres and lose 5th position to Hamilton on the last lap???
Either way Hamilton would be crowned Drivers Champion.
Don't be a TW4T. You make yourself look like a sore loser, and Massa was no loser, there is no shame to be 2nd to Hamilton this year. And I would say there is no shame on Hamilton if Massa had won, Massa now looks like the 2nd best driver on the grid sitting in the very best car, that is a great combination for next year.
Scotty, keep smoken what ever you got. "I think at the end I did give the title to Lewis, I think they worked for that the whole year, and Felipe as well," Glock said. Enough said! Don't you get it, all teams and drivers are on the take for something, engines, rides, money, sponsors etc... Glock is no different. He was in the tank for McLaren and LH and handed the championship to him. He will get his dream ride with the felons from McLaren someday and payback will be complete.
GLOCK TRIED HIS BEST TO BEAT HAMILTON... If his gamble to stay on dry tyres worked, this tactic by Glock & Toyota would have been what handed the title to Massa. Pitting with everyone to change to wets was always going to give the title to Hamilton.
Please go back and read the extracts from the press conference with Nick Heidfeld at Spa, where he went into the pits from 7th place with 3 laps to go, came out of the pits in 10th, overtook 7 cars in the final laps and (with the stewards penalising Hamilton) ended up 2nd after choosing to pit and changing to wet tyres while the leading pack chose to stay out on dry tyres on the wet and slippery track.
After you have read this, consider how Toyota decided to gamble and keep Glock on dry tyres in the hope that the rain would just be a light shower. This decision by Glock & Toyota is what was going to hand the title to Massa.
GLOCK TRIED TO BEAT HAMILTON, and all the Massa fans think he was on Hamilton's side. You are crazy with all the red merchandise you buy and wear, it is making you hallucinate. Glock & Vettel were racing Hamilton and kept him & Massa honest.
Please don't spoil a brilliant season by talking 5hite!
Massa did a great job, even with Alonso, Kimi, Kubica & Vettel, Massa was the best of the rest. I hope we get to see how good he is again next season. The rule changes are going to be interesting and might well shake up the grid, but the best will always make it to the front.
What a brilliant season.
funny old world aint it we spend time & trouble to build someone up & when they get there we brits pull the carpet from under them even schumi said LH was a better driver than him weeks ago he alsso said he was the only one able to win more world championships than he did i believe him oops im not supposed to praise LH i should knock him down this has been the first year a driver has been booed what are max & bernie going to do to stop it

Of course, Lewis passing was fair on his part. Any racing driver would surely overatake someone who is slowing down. the question is whether Glock deliberately slowed down.
As for a driver, letting his teammate overtake him to gain maximum points. I don't have a problem with that. Why are they called a team after all? If F1 wants to do away with that, then they should limit every team to just one car not two.

Hi fellow F1 groupies, your friend Emerson from Brazil here to say hello to all fans of Mr. Hamilton's son. What an inteligent race by mr.hamilton's son and his Fun Team McLaren. They kept us waiting to the very end but the honest mr. ron dennis knew that mr.glock's son couldn't race round a wet track on dry tyres so that baby massa would not be able to steal the Title from mr. hamilton's son. Of course there are lots of very stupid people who know nothing about F1 who are saying that mr.glock was paid lots of money to slow down but the truth is that the Inept Team Toyota have never won a race due to their rubbish car and tactics even though they spend more money than all the other teams put together. Even the whole of Switzerland don't spend that much money! Wasn't it wonderful to see all the Ferrari mechanics and everybody in Brazil cheering and crying with joy when they realised that mr.Hamilton's son had become the World Champion!.
it was obvious that he was having real problems at the end on the very wet section of the track. he would have loved to finish ahead of lewis...think of the glory and press he would have got! it was a fair pass as he said.
"I think at the end I didn't give the title to Lewis, I think they worked for that the whole year, and Felipe as well," he said.
The above statement of Glock somewhat hinted that he deliberately let Hamilton pass in the last.
But for those who are speculating whether Glock deliberately slowed down. Just look as his lap times prior to the last lap. You can even look at it by sector. If his last lap time is considerable slower than his previous lap, then there is a possibility he did deliberately slowed down.
As the bickering about favouritism in F1 specially Ferrari, it is hard to prove. There are also instances wherein I belive Hamilton should have been penalized but was not. Does everybody remember when Hamilton smashed Raikonen car while parking at the end of the pit lane? Raikonen was leading in that race but was taken out by Lewis.
Also, during the Schumi/Alonso battle for the championship. It was the qualifying for the last race. Michael had just taken the pole position but Alonso had one last run of qualifying. Michael's car suddenly stopped in one of the curve, the stewards decided that was deliberate to prevent Alonso from possibly overtaking his qualifying time. He was given a 10th place penalty on the starting grid which eventually cost him the championship. If Ferrari is the favorite of F1, why was he given a 10th place penalty. They could have jsut demoted him to 2nd on the grid instead of 10th. Anyway, it was only Alonso who was capable of grabbing the pole position.
Timo Glock - I think it's exactly what the fans want to see ...
