Eugene Laverty is on the verge of re-signing with Parkalgar Honda for 2010 as he bids to win the World Supersport title he just missed out on in his maiden season.
Laverty finished runner-up to Cal Crutchlow in this year’s standings after a season-long battle that came down to the wire in Portimao.
Although Laverty was tipped to follow Crutchlow by graduating to the Superbike category, or switch to the newly formed Moto2, a team spokesman confirmed he is poised to be confirmed as remaining with the Portuguese team for a second season.
Laverty won four races – at Qatar, Assen, Kyalami and Portimao - on the way to second position in the overall standings, his success helping him finish the season as the highest-placed Honda rider, ahead of Ten Kate.
Laverty is set to be joined by local rider Miguel Praia, who will start his third season with the team after finishing 15th overall this year. Others already confirmed to the World Supersport grid in 2010 include third and fourth place finishers Kenan Sofuoglu and Joan Lascorz.

I agree with Ross on this one. Only thing that can really stop him is if Ten Kate (namely Sofuoglu) throw a lot of resources at the project and if Yamaha WSS decide not to pull out and maybe give Gino Rea a chance. He's learned the circuits and the bike that Parkalgar have run even in the days of Craig Jones (RIP) has proven to be a front runner. Good luck to the lad and hopefully we'll see a World Champ in Norn Ire!!!!
Your title in 2010 eugene, now that crutchlow's out of the way- REPSOL ROSS
