Championship - Blades dealt Walker blow

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell bemoaned another injury blow, this time to impressive defender Kyle Walker, after crashing to a fourth straight league defeat.

Blades skipper Chris Morgan's own goal gifted Newcastle a fortunate 1-0 win that lifted the Magpies back into top spot and left Blackwell cursing his latest setback, compounded by the loss of Walker who was injured in the build-up to the winning goal.

Blackwell said: "Kyle has damaged ankle ligaments and could be out for up to six weeks - that's 11 serious injuries this season so far. I have never had anything like it in my career.

"I was hoping to get Jamie Ward (broken wrist) and Lee Williamson (back) back for this game but they weren't right in training and if I risk them now I'll lose them until Christmas and we can't afford to do that.

"(Nick) Montgomery (knee), (Richard) Cresswell (ribs), Ward, Williamson, (Gary) Naysmith, (Derek) Geary (both knee) - they'll all be back hopefully by the end of the month and things will start to look different then."

  2. i wonder what would have been the outcome if morgan had­ lunged in like nolan ,straight red no doubt . can,t­ wait till hackett retires then we will see a big­ improvement in refereeing standards in england .

  3. you deserve to be where you are, i took great pleasure­ wacthing us beat u at wembley. your fans that we bumped­ into where a total disgrace, we had a 7 and 10 year old­ with us that day and your scummy lot where still trying­ to pick fights, throwing coins at the mini bus and so­ on. Blackwell you are a @#$%!! you have sold all our best­ players and replaced them with rubbish.. if you had of­ kept hold of james beattie last year we would have gone­ up... we are probably going to get relegated now and­ have no chance of even making the playoffs... please do­ the right thing and resign
