Hamburg (face Celtic at Nordbank Arena on November 5)

Hamburg 2-3 Borussia Moenchengladbach

Hamburg have faltered in the last week and they followed up their draw at Schalke with an agonising loss to Gladbach.

Hamburg had forged a 2-1 lead midway through the second half thanks to goals from Germany winger Piotr Trochowski and a free kick by Brazil midfielder Ze Roberto.

But a header from Brazil defender Dante put the visitors level on 76 minutes before Rob Friend hit a late winner to leave Hamburg third.

Rapid Vienna 1-0 Ried

Hapoel Tel Aviv 1-0 Maccabi Tel Aviv

GROUP E

Roma (face Fulham at Stadio Olimpico on November 5)

Roma 2-1 Bologna

Roma ended a three-game losing streak as they came from behind to beat Bologna 2-1 in the Eternal City.

Brazilian Adailton gave Bologna the lead on 32 minutes but Mirko Vucinic benefited from a kind ricochet to equalise three minutes later and Simone Perrotta scored the winner in the 52nd minute.

Litex Lovech 2-0 CSKA Sofia

FC Basel 3-1 Grasshoppers

GROUP I

Benfica (face Everton at Goodison Park on November 5)

Braga 2-0 Benfica

Benfica warmed up for their trip to Goodison Park with a defeat at league leaders Braga.

Former Newcastle star Hugo Viana set Braga on their way to victory with a glorious free kick on 20 minutes.

The game was fiercely contested throughout and as the players left the field for half-time, there was a skirmish and Oscar Cardozo and Andre Leone saw red to leave both sides without their full complement of players.

Benfica failed to find a way back into the game and Paulo Cesar secured the points with a goal 12 minutes from time.
